However, however

“I know the world
As ephemeral as dew
However, however”
- Kobayashi Issa

24 x 16.5 inches
Etching, Aquatint, Drypoint

This print series was inspired by an observation from quantum mechanics and particle theory: “The world is a continuous, restless swarming of things, a continuous coming to light and disappearance of ephemeral entities.” This reminded me of the known attributes of consciousness, here metaphorically represented with the imagery of steam and its transitional existence between condensation and evaporation. Following the images through a narrative perspective, units of shimmering, regularly arrayed objects are discovered in the dark space, which indicates law of creation.

From However, however Series

These three compositionally related prints from the print series “However, however” indicate another view peeping into the “mono world” from colorful interior spaces filled with those units, which represents an eternal multi-dimensional space, my interpretation of the universe and time.
